Copenhagen Overview |
Situated on the east coast of Zealand, Copenhagen is Denmark’s capital and can boast being the largest and most vibrant city in Scandinavia. Copenhagen is a blend of traditional Nordic beauty with a cosmopolitan attitude that is rare in this part of the world. Copenhagen also stands out from Scandinavia’s other major cities with its affordable prices.
Copenhagen’s historic skyline and friendly inhabitants give the city a sleek yet relaxed atmosphere which makes it the perfect place to simply enjoy, but there is loads to see and do. Whether it is the many museums and galleries, cool shops and cafes or intimate nightlife that interests you Copenhagen is a fantastic place to visit.

Copenhagen Essentials |
Tivoli - This theme park cum flower garden caters for all tastes and ages with exciting rollercoasters, open air performances and a large concert hall.
Vor Frelsers Kirke - Vor Frelsers Kirke or ‘Our Saviours Church’ is located in Christianshavn. The church has a sensational interior but this is surpassed by a spiral steeple over 300 feet tall which offers an unmatchable view of the city, that is for those who can manage the 400 steps to the top.
Christiansborg Slot - Located on the small city centre island of Slotsholmen, the Christiansborg slot is home to the government offices. Inside its walls the Christianborg slot contains many interesting sites such as the magnificent Royal Reception Chambers.
Strøget - Strøget is the world’s longest pedestrian consumer mall and contains a wide range of shops, eateries and entertainment venues.
National Museum - The nationalmuseet is home to major artefacts from Denmarks history, and has pieces ranging from thousands of years ago to the mid 20th Century. If you are interested in the roots of Danish society and culture then this is a must. |

Copenhagen Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Copenhagen Carnival (Whitsunday weekend – late May or Early June) - A weekend of music and dance inspired by Latin America. The festival has been running for over twenty years and has never been bigger or better than at present.
Golden Days Festival (late August/Early September) - This festival of events and activities celebrates the period of Danish history between 1800 and 1850. During this time Denmark became culturally renowned and famous Danes such as the writer Hans Christian Anderson flourished. |
